چکیده

Acute pancreatitis is one of the common encountered disorders in common surgical practice. In recent times management has changed dramatically with majority of decisions like role of antibiotics, use of Ryle’s tube, nutrition etc. Ranson’s and APACHE II scoring systems are the two major scoring systems to predict the severity of disease, but the efficacy between the two scoring systems still remains a debate and hence the need for the study. Objectives: To assess the severity and to predict the outcome of Acute Pancreatitis using Ranson’s scoring system and APACHE II Scoring system and CT severity index. Materials and Methodology: Data for the study will be collected from patients who are admitting in Surgery wards from Dec 2013 to Jun 2015 with Acute Pancreatitis using a pretested proforma and CT severity index meeting the objectives of study. Source of Data: Patients admitted in Meenakshi medical college in Surgery wards. Study Period: Dec 2013 to Jun 2015 Study Design Time bound prospective study.

Outcome in Acute Pancreatitis – An Evaluation of Prognostic Efficacy of Clinical Staging versus CT Severity Index

Objective Acute pancreatitis presents a broad clinical spectrum ranging from cases so mild that symptoms abate before the diagnosis is actively pursued, to cases which progress rapidly to multisystem failure and eventual demise of patient despite current mode of therapy. Methods A retrospective study of 50 patients diagnosed as acute pancreatitis was done. Patients suffering from acute pancreat...

Comparison of BISAP, Ranson, MCTSI, and APACHE II in Predicting Severity and Prognoses of Hyperlipidemic Acute Pancreatitis in Chinese Patients

In recent years, with the developing of living standard, hyperlipidemia becomes the second major reason of acute pancreatitis. It is important to predict the severity and prognosis at early stage of hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis (HLAP). We compared the BISAP, Ranson, MCTSI, and APACHE II scoring system in predicting MSAP and SAP, local complications, and mortality of HLAP. A total of 326 di...

The comparison of apache ii scores with neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and red cell distribution width for the prediction of prognosis of patients with acute pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory process of pancreatic tissue, which can affect other distant organ systems. Its severity can range from mild inflammation to severe, progressive pancreatic necrosis, and it can lead to multiorgan failure that may have a mortality rate as high as 20% to 30% [1]. Several scoring systems have been proposed to determine its severity. Amo...

Computed tomography severity index, APACHE II score, and serum CRP concentration for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis.

CONTEXT The assessment of the severity of pancreatitis is important for proper management of this challenging disease. A highly accurate system which could predict the severity and identify the local extent and complications of a serious inflammation, is beneficial for patient outcome. OBJECTIVE The aim was to establish the value of the computed tomography severity index in predicting the sev...
